Pregunta: ¿Cuál es el único país europeo de un cierto tamaño y facturación cultural en el que la caja con los discos remasterizados de los Beatles ha entrado en la lista de los diez más vendidos? Respuesta: España (en el puesto Nº 4). Ni en Reino Unido ni en Alemania, Francia o Italia. En ninguno de esos países la reedición de la obra completa de los de Liverpool se ha colado en el top-10. Aquí sí.

Sólo se me ocurre una cosa: que, contra mi opinión expresada en este mismo blog, a los compradores habituales de discos en España no les ha parecido que el precio sea excesivo, mientras en otros lugares lo han visto caro. Porque si no, ¿qué explicación tiene?

Hoy ha salido a la venta la edición remasterizada de los discos de los Beatles. Dicen quienes los han escuchado que el sonido es mejor (algo mejor, han aclarado).

Es un ejemplo más de discos que ya existían y que vuelven a publicarse en otro formato o con algún arreglo que justifique la operación. Les anuncio el precio: 264 euros, por 17 compactos. Eso da a 15,5 euros por compacto.

Una pregunta: ¿creen ustedes que se les puede poner un precio así? Es apenas un 25% de rebaja respecto de una novedad, con el añadido de que el tiempo real de música en cada uno de esos discos es inferior. ¿A alguien se le ha ocurrido pensar que eso estimula la piratería? Estoy seguro de que si el desembolso necesario para hacerse con la colección fuese más bajo se venderían muchos más ejemplares y se desincentivaría la copia ilegal. Por más vueltas que le doy, no entiendo ese precio. Me parece un disparate.

En 1969 se grabaron dos de esas canciones que han trascendido: Let it be y Bridge over troubled water, de los Beatles y Simon & Garfunkel. Los álbumes a los que pertenecen se titulan precisamente así y los temas se convirtieron en las despedidas del cuarteto de Liverpool y el dúo de Nueva York.

Quiero plantear una encuesta urbi et orbe: ¿cuál de las dos les gusta más?
